The baby elephant cries for 5 hours after its mother attacks and leaves it.

At first, the mom kicked him and later on tossed him from one corner to another, forcing the keeper to separate them.

In May that year, a female elephant gave birth to her infant at the Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Nature Reserve in Rongcheng, China. Shortly after offering birth, the elephant stepped on her calf and injured him, reports Metro.
A keeper right away separated the calf from the hostile mother to prevent any more injuries.

Then they named the child Zhuang Zhuang. What’s heartbreaking is that Zhuang could not bear to be separated from his mom despite being attacked by his mother. The calf was mad, and he was crying for five hours before he could be consoled,” stated one employee.

“He could not bear to be parted from his mom, and it was his mom who was attempting to eliminate him.” Heartbreaking pictures of the distressed calf program tears streaming down his face.

Zhuang is under a blanket; however, he could not stop weeping. Zookeepers kept a close eye on the child, but with time he improved, stated zookeepers.

On the other hand, they observed that the mom elephant revealed an anorexia nervosa, and vets presume that she is depressed, which could explain why she did this to her child. As for her calf bawling his eyes out, Santa Barbara of the University of California discussed his method of revealing his feelings.

The university provided a detailed explanation of why elephants weep. It stated: “The answer to this question depends on how you specify crying.”

“If by crying, you suggest shedding or producing tears, then the answer is most definitely yes. Supposedly, all or nearly all mammals that live on land produce tears to secure and lubricate their eyes, including you! Because mammals (and you) have eyes that move in your sockets and your eyes require to remain wet in order to move appropriately, this is important.

The tears assist in cleaning dirt, dust, or any possibly damaging particles out of your eyes. It is the same for elephants as it is for you. Suppose you specify crying to suggest shedding tears in reaction to emotions. In that case, the answer to your question is a bit harder.”

“It is easy to reveal that elephants produce tears. However, it is not possible to show that these tears result from emotions, so we can not truly state that elephants cry from feelings. (What about the elephant’s habits, particularly when it follows tears such as the death of an infant).”

Elephants have been continuously known to exhibit human-like symptoms when it comes to joy and even sorrow, as per PBS. Some scientists recommended that these creatures might even relive memories and correspond such an interest in the dead that they have their very own principle of one’s loss.
